SAARP believes that senior citizens are entitled to a secure and rewarding existence in line with the highest moral principles of mankind. We work with vigour to enrich lives, raise self-esteem and influence society to support these ideals.
SAARP has embarked on a process of addressing this issue mainly through the Bulletin, not only in terms of articles of an informative nature, but also in conjunction with Internet articles, references to researched web sites etc.
It is becoming a greater priority than ever before that computer literacy is strongly advocated for the elderly citizen. SAARP is assisting with special offers negotiated for senior citizens wishing to obtain computer equipment. SAARP also holds a dream of initiating a school of computer literacy for senior citizens in the longer term.
Loss of independence due to age-related physical disabilities can be reduced or negated with the use of computers. This, in itself, is a learning process, and new interests, purpose and involvement can flow into the vacuum left by other losses.
We are also in process of negotiations with the U3A (University of the 3rd Age) in this regard.
