SAARP Old Gold
A wealth of experience | A world of opportunity
Old Gold is an recruitment & employment programme run by SAARP*. Old Gold attempts to find gainful employment opportunities for its members.
SAARP currently has over 85 000 members, many of whom are still healthy and active, and have a great deal of experience to offer employers in terms of performing a particular role, as well as the vitally important elements of mentoring, training and transfer of skills.
SAARP Old Gold candidates are not in competition for permanent jobs with younger, possibly more qualified people. Old Gold candidates are perfect for short term, ‘stand in’, part-time and contract positions, where there is little time for training, and experience counts.
Old Gold candidates are also perfect for situations in which less experienced employees require training, mentoring, or assistance with skills.
Old Gold candidates are no longer driven by high salaries, company benefits and career paths. They have a wealth of experience to share, and the maturity to do so with patience and care. They have a solid work ethic, and the desire to continue to be active members of society.
A small sample
Old Gold has candidates in fields ranging from business & management, finance, construction and engineering, telecommunications, information technology to marketing, social and community. We also have a wide range of candidates able to assist with general office administration, reception and language and design (design, writing, editing and translation) duties. We have on our database architects, accountants, teachers, nurses, engineers, technicians and even a saxophonist!
We also currently have listed and available for employment, as a small example:
- A multi-disciplinary AutoCad draughtswoman experienced mainly in detail draughting in architectural, electrical and mechanical.
- Industrial psychologists, counsellors and therapists.
- A candidate with a Doctorate in economics, with experience in forecasting likely trends in the local and world economy. Willing to do economic research.
- A geologist with a BSc (Hons) degree in geology from Rhodes University. Registered as a Professional Natural Scientist with 35 years of geological experience in both mining and exploration throughout Africa. Production and opencast mine management experience in addition to the geological.
Old Gold offers a world of experience to employers, and a world of opportunity for retired South Africans to share their knowledge and remain active, contributing members of society.
Old Gold works on a very affordable placement fee from companies making use of the services. No fees are taken from candidates. The only requirement is that candidates are SAARP members, as the service is offered by SAARP to its members. Membership of SAARP is free, the only requirement begin that members must be 50 years or older.
