SAARP Mission
SAARP believes that senior citizens are entitled to a secure and rewarding existence in line with the highest moral principles of mankind. We work with vigour to enrich lives, raise self-esteem and influence society to support these ideals.
Representation
Besides having our own contacts and internal methodology when dealing with issues, we are also a founding member of SACSO (South African Confederation of Seniors Organisations), The Older Persons forum and other bodies which have the well-being of seniors as their core focus area.
Interest groups which represent senior citizens in various specialised areas play a large role in securing the attention of the authorities on various issues. This is an essential job. It is our ultimate dream to have permanent lobbyists promoting the various issues at parliamentary level. In this way we will be able to speak to the decision-makers in our legislature on behalf of a database of senior citizens which will be large enough in terms of voting power to force members of Parliament rethink issues.
This facet of our dream will probably not be fully attainable for a while yet, which is why we are appealing to members to help us recruit more members which will enable us to be of service to you in this regard as well.
